Miss Bee Haven's honeybees are situated in what must be prime real estate for their kind: the rolling fields and orchards in and around Frog Hollow Farm in Brentwood, whose fruits, preserves and baked goods call out to us from Farmers Market Stands around the Bay Area. Depending on the season, and the direction the bees take off, this raw, unfiltered honey may be light or dark, with earthy or grassy notes, but it's always deeply flavored and nourishing.

Oh Naturel Gluten Free cookies were developed by Vanessa, who is a local business woman that came up with these recipes when she had to clean up her diet for health reasons. She could no longer have soy, gluten, dairy and processed foods. This was a rough adjustment. She searched for flavorful foods or snacks with wholesome ingredients but could not readily find them. Consequently, she had to figure it out herself by adjusting her current recipes and creating new ones.

Cocotella is a coconut butter with added cacao nibs and coconut sugar, stone ground for 3 days. It's like a healthier version of Nutella! All the ingredients are organic: it is a mix of healthy coconut fat and sugar that help to deliver direct trade Nicaraguan cacao. The key difference from other nut butters is the fact that coconut butter is solid at room temperature. However, at temperatures of 76 degrees and above, it starts to melt. This makes the butter more pliable and spreadable. This product has been stone ground in small batches for 24 hours at a low speed and low temperature. This creates a texture and taste impossible to replicate in high-speed, high-throughput metal processing machines (metal-on-metal cutting machines have implications for quicker oxidation and rancidity as well as zinc and cadmium toxicity in food). The result is a silky smooth texture without grit or dryness and a sweeter flavor. Ingredients: Coconut, Cocoa Nibs and Coconut sugar.

The beauty and surprise behind local wildflower honey is - you just don't know what you're gonna get. But one thing for sure - they are all going to taste great and different from each other. Alice of Golden Gate Neighborhood Honey, maintains slightly over 100 hives in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The majority of maintained hives are from West Richmond, Upper Fruitvale, and North Oakland/South Berkeley. Most are wild honey that was harvested while rescuing and relocating honey bees in naturally occurring hives. The honey is processed differently when it is harvested from a wild environment. There are no frames to support the comb it must then be crushed (with hands) to liberate the honey. While harvesting the honey, small amounts of pollen and wax enter into the honey. Her efforts are helping our local bee populations happy and healthy.
